Algae Detection

Invest in Monitoring for a Resilient Future

Early detection isn’t just a safety measure—it’s a smart, forward-thinking strategy for modern aquaculture. By integrating monitoring systems and detection technologies, farms can improve fish health, reduce risk, and operate more sustainably.

Notification of algae detections is sent to chosen application on any platform.

Enabling Smarter, Proactive Farm Management

Modern tools like satellite data water monitoring make it easier than ever to detect early signs of blooms. These technologies empower aquaculture operators to act before a bloom becomes a crisis.

Data Acquisition
We utilize multispectral and hyperspectral data from a variety of platforms, including commercial satellites, aircraft, and fixed cameras.

Spectra
Visible light and other portions of the electromagnetic spectrum from the sun are reflected off objects and constituents on Earth into a sensor.

Algorithms
Complex, machine learning algorithms to isolate spectral signatures of phenomena contained in the data of an image.

Analytics
We analyze petabytes of data, comprising thousands of individual aerial or satellite images, and builds a repository of spectral signatures. We also  run predictive models and renders that data into interactive displays, alerts, and visualizations.

Resolution

Standard resolution for satellites is 1000 meter, we are using 30 meter but down to 30 cm spatial resolution is possible. This higher resolution will be tasked so pointed over the target areas on a frequency dictated by the customer knowledge, AI and problem trying to be solved. The COARSER resolution makes up to 7 attempts per month. This may be a less expensive initial review and then you can target the areas that are most problematic.

We use Near infrared and spectral bands for light reflectance and its AI, a convolutional neural network to look at algae constituents. Not only can we identify them but also measure their concentrations in parts per billion. These algorithms have been ground truthed all over the world for over 12 years.

What about clouds?

In any satellite or other data form. The results will be with in hours of data capture. Clouds are an impediment but the satellite companies we use are being tasked they keep looking until data is captured. Using the coarse data methods, we state that we process all useable data which may be up to 7 captures per month. WE can with high resolution look every single day. Our most frequent customer today is the oil and gas giant HESS. We examine their entire oil and gas operations including water 4 times per week. They operate in North Dakota one of the most winter and weather affected locations in the USA.

AI Algorithms

All algorithms can be applied at the same time, saving time and driving efficiency as costs for one set of data are shared.
